If you are using a debit card check the rental car company to make sure they will allow you to use a debit card.

When using a debit card for rental car or hotel check with them first. Most of them will charge your full rental/stay and as much as $500.00 security deposit on your debit card.

Call your bank/credit card company before you leave to advise them that you'll be travelling. You don't want to arrive and find yourself cut off because your bank thinks it's fraudulent activity.

If taking an escorted tour check with the tour company if your departure date is a guaranteed departure. Some tour companies will cancel tours if there are not enough people for that date.

Check with your cell phone provider and make sure your phone will work in the country you are traveling to.

Don't forget to take extra memory cards and batteries for your camera. There's so much wildlife, architecture and gorgeous vistas that you'll want to take heaps of photos!

You can always delete pictures that don't turn out or you have too many of the same thing, you can never go back and take that special picture again.

Check your passport to make sure that you will have at least 6 months validity left after your return date.
